Seventeen months after Trailer 1, Rockstar came back with a longer, more story-driven second look — 2 minutes and 47 seconds, released May 6, 2025. Here’s everything it confirmed.
1. It arrived alongside the first delay
The bittersweet timing: Trailer 2 dropped just days after Rockstar announced GTA 6 wouldn’t make its original 2025 window after all, pushing the release to May 26, 2026 instead (a date that would itself be pushed again later, to the current November 19, 2026). The trailer softened what could have been a rough news cycle into one of the biggest reveals of the year.
2. A release date on screen for the first time
Where Trailer 1 only offered a vague “2025” window, Trailer 2 closed with an actual date — May 26, 2026 — alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S branding.
3. Six named regions, officially confirmed
Rockstar’s website updated alongside the trailer with full details on the map, naming six distinct regions for the first time: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park — each with its own official flavor text.

4. A wave of new named characters
This is where most of GTA 6’s supporting cast got introduced for the first time: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, the rap duo Real Dimez, Raul Bautista, and Brian Heder all got named and given bios on Rockstar’s updated site.
5. Lucia’s backstory gets deeper
The trailer opens with Lucia exiting Leonida State Penitentiary in prison clothes. Rockstar’s own Newswire post accompanying the trailer described her as having ended up there “fighting for her family,” with her release owing more to luck than a clean record. A community-service jacket and a visible ankle monitor in the very next scenes reinforce just how low a point this is for her — broke, monitored, and starting from zero.

6. The Bonnie & Clyde framing becomes visual
Trailer 1 hinted at Jason and Lucia as partners; Trailer 2 makes the “Bonnie and Clyde” comparison Rockstar had already been using in interviews into an actual on-screen dynamic — showing the two planning a heist together, trading the kind of knowing looks that frame them as a real criminal duo rather than two people who happen to share a story.
7. Phil’s Ammu-Nation makes its debut
One of the trailer’s more memorable beats is a fake in-universe commercial for Phil’s Ammu-Nation, with Phil himself shouting a pitch about having “more guns than the law allows.” It’s the first appearance of a character fans immediately connected to Phil Cassidy from the series’ 3D Universe era.
8. A full vehicle showcase
A dedicated montage runs through a huge range of vehicles: speedboats, helicopters, motorcycles, jet skis, small planes, dirt bikes, and sports cars. The standout moment has Jason riding a motorcycle up onto the back of a moving semi truck, mid-highway, to steal a sports car riding inside it.
9. Confirmed captured entirely in-game on PS5
Rockstar stated the whole trailer — cutscenes and action sequences alike — was captured directly from PlayStation 5 hardware. It’s still all cinematic and cutscene-directed rather than actual gameplay footage, but it was Rockstar’s way of signaling the final game would look this good running live.
10. An even bigger reception than Trailer 1
Trailer 2 pulled in roughly 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours — a bigger number than Trailer 1’s, though it’s worth noting these measure different things: Trailer 1’s 93 million was YouTube-only, since that was the only place it launched, while Trailer 2’s total counts every platform it went out on simultaneously. Either way, it cemented GTA 6 as one of the biggest entertainment reveals of the decade, well before a single frame of actual gameplay had been shown.
