The Leonida Keys are Rockstar’s take on the real Florida Keys — a chain of tropical islands connected by long highway bridges south of Vice City, marketed in official materials as Leonida’s “Gateway to Paradise.” Turquoise water, white sand, and boats and jet skis as the default way to get around make it look, at first glance, like the postcard version of the state.
It’s also where GTA 6’s story actually begins. Jason Duval works the Keys’ smuggling routes for Brian Heder alongside Cal Hampton, and Jason and Lucia’s early safehouse together is confirmed to be located here — meaning the Keys are as story-critical as they are scenic.
Bars like the Rusty Anchor and casual wildlife encounters (sea turtles, scuba diving) give the region a laid-back surface, but the isolation from Vice City’s spotlight makes it just as natural a fit for quiet criminal business as it is for a beach vacation.
