Cal Hampton is Jason Duval’s closest friend and one of the few people in the Leonida Keys he actually trusts. Like Jason, he works the smuggling routes under Brian Heder, but Cal’s real personality shows in his downtime — he’s an extremely online conspiracy theorist who spends more time picking through police scanner chatter than he probably should, convinced that law enforcement is always one step from catching up to both of them.
That paranoia isn’t entirely baseless given the company Cal keeps, and it has a habit of dragging Jason into situations that started out as strictly Cal’s problem before becoming both of theirs. As one of the earliest characters Rockstar revealed alongside Jason, Cal is expected to be a recurring presence tied to a handful of missions of his own rather than a one-scene character.
